Solidarity Message By CPP on The Occasion of The Annual Delegates Conference of The New Patriotic Party, Koforidua, 6th January, 2007

His Excellency President J.A.Kuffuor, His Excellency Vice-President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, The National Council, The National Chairman and National Executive Committee, Ministers of State, Honorable Members of Parliament, Your Excellencies Ambassadors and High Commissioners, Ladies and Gentlemen.

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) extends its warmest felicitations to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the occasion of the Annual National Delegates Conference to deliberate and take decisions on pertinent matters of interest to the growth and development of your party.

Your ability to maintain the internal cohesion of the NPP and hold this event is a testimony to your commitment to uphold democratic principles as enshrined in the 1992 Constitution.

We have honored your invitation to attend this Conference in recognition of our common obligation, as political parties, to entrench multiparty democracy, which is devoid of acrimony, rancour and bitterness. It is our belief therefore that this Annual Conference would take concrete decisions that would forge a healthy inter-party co-existence and deepening of constitutional governance in Ghana.

As we prepare to celebrate the golden jubilee of our Independence, we must endeavor to re-establish in our body politic a great sense of national identity to ensure peace, socio-cultural harmony and stability. This is a great challenge for all of us.

There is no doubt that your Conference will discuss matters pertaining to the next Congress to elect a Presidential Candidate for the 2008 elections. It is our expectation that all aspirants would embark on their respective campaign in accordance with the rules and regulations of the NPP. They should therefore conduct themselves in a manner that would always place the interest and internal cohesion of the party above their own.

We wish your great party a successful and fruitful Conference.
