CPP Takes Decisive Action Against Indiscipline
The Central Committee of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) met on Thursday, 5th January 2012 to deliberate on a wide range of issues including finalizing all appointments and its organisational plans for 2012.
Acting in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Party Constitution, particularly Article 112 (2) which states that “An Office Holder referred to the Disciplinary Committee may be interdicted pending the outcome of the Disciplinary proceedings.”
In a unanimous decision the following were referred to the Disciplinary Committee and interdicted on the grounds of contravening several provisions of the Constitution;
1. Mr. Murtala Mohammed - (National Youth Organiser)
2. Ms. Mary Ankomah-Boakye Boateng -(National Women’s Organiser)
3. Dr. Ben Kwofie - (Ashanti Regional Chairman)
4. Mr. Kwame Murtala –(Northern Regional Youth Organiser)
The Party has thus taken this decisive action in furtherance of its new agenda that has as its goal a disciplined Party which is serious and credible, that Ghanaians would once again have the confidence to vote for.
The Central Committee, in accordance with the Party’s Constitution also empanelled a Five (5) member Disciplinary Committee under the Chairmanship of Prof. Edmund Delle. Other members of the Disciplinary Committee are Major (Rtd) Sedziafa, Ms Araba Bentsi-Enchill, Mrs. Elizabeth Akpalu and Mr. Yaw Osafo Esq.
Furthermore, the Central Committee appointed the Party’s spokespersons for the Shadow Cabinet including Prof. Agyemang-Badu Akosa (Health), Dr. Kwaku Osafo (Finance & Economic Planning), Kwame Jantuah (Trade & Industry) and Dr. Abu Sakara (Foreign Affairs) among others.
The Central Committee also commended members of the Party who have stood firm and resolute against inducements and coercive and deceitful attempts seeking to lure them away from the Party.
At the end, the leadership of the Party received firm and unequivocal backing from the entire Central Committee for its handling of Party affairs and affirmed complete loyalty and commitment to the Party.
